  Leadership exchanges with Japan

In 2002, the CJACLC organized a delegation of California Japanese American community leaders for an exchange trip to Japan that was sponsored by the Japanese Foreign Ministry. Since then, the leadership exchange program has grown to include delegates from several states, and the program is now administered by the Japanese American National Museum.

Nikkei Community Internship (NCI)

The CJACLC launched the Nikkei Community Internship program in 2002 to support the development of the next generation of community leaders. The 8-week summer program is designed to introduce young people to the needs and opportunities in Japanese American community by matching them with non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas. The leadership training program includes site visit, workshops and cultural activities.

Community Mentoring

The CJACLC is in the process of developing a mentorship program to connect emerging leaders with a desire to grow, with established leaders in the Japanese American community.
